We had such a great time at day camp! Here are some pictures of our good times! (I was trying to put these in order of how they happened, but they keep jumping to new places, so I give up. I'll just label them.)
| Dominic's face says it all in this picture. The can stilts were a HUGE hit with our boys. They made me promise that we could make some in den meeting as soon as I can gather up enough cans. In this picture: Bishop Mudrow, Dominic, Seth (with his balloon sword stuck in the back of his shirt), and Nathan. (Friday) |
| Henry's balloon sword popped and he made this kiwi bird from what was left of it. It looked very much like a kiwi bird. It was awesome! (Friday) |
| Bishop is showing Seth how to make a balloon sword. (Friday) |
| This is Henry's sword before the kiwi bird. (Friday) |
| The looks on their faces show just how thrilled they were with me when I asked them to pose beside this wagon instead of climbing all over it like the other boys were doing. (Friday) |
| This is one of my favorite pictures. These were the boys costumes for the impromptu skit class they were in. (Friday) |
| All the boys thought it was pretty cool to turn their caps inside out. This picture shows Dominic and Nathan best. Henry is the one leaning forward (did that just as I snapped the picture) and Seth is on the other side of him. (Friday) |
| In this game they had a rubber band with several strings tied to it. They could open the rubber band wider by pulling on their strings all at the same time. They had to work together to get the rubber band around #10 cans. Then they had to build a pyramid of the cans. They could not touch the cans with their hands, feet, or any other body part, only the rubber bands. It looked a like they weren't going to be able to get it together at first, but by the time they were done, they were working together like a well oiled machine. (Friday) |
| This activity was trickier than it looked. They had to stand opposite one of the cans and get a ping pong ball into the can by bouncing it on the ground once and then having it land in the can. The cobblestones added a whole new dimension of difficulty to it. I love this picture because all four boys are in it. (Friday) |
| In this one they were walking the tight rope. You'd think it would be easy, especially since they weren't actually on a rope, but you'd be mistaken. They had to close their eyes and when they took a step, they were supposed to have the heel of their front foot touching the toes of their back foot. (Friday) |
| Henry was pretty good as a tightrope walker. (Friday) |
| Nathan's tightrope went a totally different direction. (Friday) |
| Right after we got their they asked for helpers to come up and help lead a song. Our quiet Nathan volunteered right away. (Friday) |
| Seth, Dominic, & Henry taking a quiet break after a very strenuous activity -- lunch. (Saturday) |
| Seth and Dominic make their paper bag masks. Megan, Seth's mom, watches them. (Saturday) |
| Seth, Dominic, & Henry sport their new masks for a picture. (Saturday) |
| Henry & Dominic at the archery range. (Saturday) |
| Seth at the archery range. (Saturday) |
| Follow the leader. Henry in front, then Dominic, Nathan, Bishop Mudrow, and Seth. (Friday) |
| Lining up for a race. Henry, Bishop, Seth, Nathan, Dominic, and some other boys. (Friday) |
| Bishop is right on your tail, Dominic! Seth is pulling ahead and Henry is in second. (I think Nathan was behind Bishop.) (Friday) |
| They were having some feats of skill here, but you can't tell from the picture. Bishop was having them hop on one foot, walk backwards, jump, and other things like that. I'm just glad that the old man didn't break anything -- and I don't mean the can stilts. (Friday) |
| They finally got themselves coordinated enough to have all the sides of the parachute down at the same time. (Friday) |
| Henry climbing the rock wall. He's the one in the center with the red helmet. (Saturday) |
| Dominic about half- way up. (Saturday) |
| Seth almost there! (Saturday) |
| Seth and Dominic reach the top! (Saturday) |
We had so much fun at day camp! I wish we could afford to go several times during the summer! Day camp is what Cub Scouting is all about! Our Cubs are the best!!!!
